Church Point, LA Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Agnes F. Brasseaux, 102, The former Agnes Fontenot. Mrs. Brasseaux, a native and long-time resident of Church Point, died Saturday morning, October 15 at Nottingham Regional Nursing Home in Baton Rouge, LA. Father Donavon Labbe will conduct the services with interment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery adjacent to the Church. Survivors include a son, Darrel Brasseaux and wife Elaine of Denham Springs, LA; two daughters, Helen Cormier and husband Melvin of Port Arthur, TX and Brenda Labbe and husband Ludrick of Lafayette, LA; a sister, Rita Elkins of Church Point, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Brasseaux and her mother, Eugenie Carriere. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 18 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A "Divine Mercy Chapelet" will be held at the funeral home beginning at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday with two Rosaries, one in French by Darrell Brasseaux followed by one in English by Father Labbe, recited at 7:00 P.M. Church Point's First Buggy Festival Queen and a Cajun Queen in 1983 and 2001, Mrs. Brasseaux was a member of the OLSH Ladies Altar Society and Le Vieux Presbytere for many years, the St. Ann Society and the Bonne Mort Society of St. Peter's Church in Carencro, LA and a cook at Church Point High School for some seventeen years.
